Who is Jesus Christ?
Nowadays, there are many concepts about who Jesus Christ is. Some of these concepts are more or less popular: some argue that He is God Himself and others, that He was just a man, a son of God, in the same way as all people are sons of God. According to others, Jesus was just a manifestation of God without being a distinct person from God.
The Word of God tells us that one's everlasting life depends on his taking in knowledge of Jesus Christ (John 17:3). Having a wrong concept about Jesus means losing everlasting life, having a false Jesus in our lives (2 Corinthians 11:4)! Thus, it raises some serious questions: What is the truth? Who is Jesus? How did He come into existence? The Bible, which is truth (John 17:17), provides relevant evidence of Jesus personality, also it describes His life and the truth about Him.
The Bible calls Him "the Son of the Father" (2 John 1:3), or "begotten Son from Father" (John 1:14), or "the One born from God" (1 John 5:18). The Bible uses the word begotten in connection with the Son of God, because Jesus was not created from nothing; but comes from the Father, being born from God. He was called "the only-begotten Son" (John 3:16 Christian Scriptures - 2008). Thus, only Jesus is the only-begotten Son, from Greek: "monogenes" (John 1:14, 18; 3:16,18). This makes Jesus unique compared to the rest of creation, in that He comes directly from the Father, being the first of all creation.
The birth of Jesus from the Father took place at the beginning, in the early beginning of the first day of creation (Proverbs 8: 22-25; Colossians 1: 15-18; 1 John 1: 1; 2: 13-14; Revelation 3:14).
Lord Jesus is not God Himself, nor is He without beginning, from all eternity. The Bible speaks of the Son of God in the letter to the Colossians 1:13-15 as being "the firstborn of all creation", so He has a beginning, He doesn't exist from time indefinite as God does (Psalms 90: 2). The Son is the first one created , according to Revelation 3:14 (GBV), where Jesus is called: ,,the beginning of the creation by God”. Thus, in Colossians 1:15 and Revelation 3:14, the Bible reveals the Son as being a part of God's creation.
Therefore, Jesus is the Son of God because He was begotten of God, not because he took the role of the Son, as someone considers.
Only Satan and false religious leaders questioned that Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 4: 3; 26:63-65). Opposit to them, God's Word clearly teaches us in 1 John 4:9-14: "By this the love of God was manifested toward us, because God sent forth His only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through Him. The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent forth His Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.... In addition, we ourselves have beheld and are bearing witness that the Father has sent forth His Son as Savior of the world." Notice that John under inspiration, says that God sent forth His only Son into the world. He did not became Son through the embodiment, but He came as Son (also see John 8:49-56; 12:49,50). He was the Son before the embodiment, because of Him being born from the Father (John 1:14,18; 1 John 5:18).
A Bible writer being under the inspiration, speaks of the name of the Creator's Son hundreds of years before His birth from Mary (Proverbs 30:4).
Those who deny these truths the Holy Scripture warns through 1 John 2:22,23: "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. But whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also."
You may say dear reader, that you do not think so, but if you're part of a religion that has these teachings (trinitarian or modalism), then either you're not honest with your religion (personally believing otherwise) or you believe the modalistic and trinitarian doctrines, which puts you in enmity with the Bible and with God!
For the Bible clearly shows that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is a person distinct from God. The Holy Scripture, which cannot be nullified (John 10:35), clearly warns us in 2 John 1: 9: "Everyone who pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. The one who does remain in this teaching has both the Father and the Son."
What can be said about you, dear reader? Do you have God? Unless you personally believe the biblical teaching that God is the Father (John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6) and that Jesus is His Son, born of Him (John 1:14,18; 3:16-18; 1 John 5:18) you have the Father and the Son! But if you think otherwise, believing a teaching based on a philosophy, on human opinions, on what was decided by councils and not on the Holy Scripture's truth, then you do not have God!
